Killarney to host 3 Irish Open in 2010
27 10 2009The news that Killarney has been chosen to host the Irish Open golf tournament next year, has been hailed as a major boost for tourism in Kerry. Killarney’s Killeen course was chosen above rival applicants from Mount Juliet, Fota Island and Baltray, to host the event, which will be held over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Killarney last hosted the Open in 1992, when it was won by British golfer Nick Faldo. Mayor of Killarney, Michael Gleeson, said the news couldn’t come at a better time for the town’s business people.
