To celebrate our oldest regatta and wonderful rowing tradition on the Lakes of Killarney, The Regatta Committee are hosting Killarney Rowing Festival, at O’Mahoney’s Point, Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, Killarney on Sunday 28th July 2013, commencing at 12 Noon. The unique event also co-insides with ‘The Gathering 2013’ a Tourism Ireland initiative honouring Ireland’s Diaspora and historical and cultural links to Ireland. Killarney’s tourism success owes much to the visit of Queen Victoria to Killarney in 1861.
Both Oxford and Cambridge Boat Clubs have gratefully accepted our invitation and will be joining us on Sunday 28th July 2013 to take part in our Rowing Festival. Flights to Kerry Airport, two nights accommodation, have been kindly funded and sponsored by Tourism Ireland, with Killarney Chamber of Commerce and Tourism generously providing accommodation. The boats will be ready and waiting at the pier at O’Mahoney’s Point, Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.
The Killarney Annual Regatta, is now the oldest traditional regatta in the World, steeped in glorious history and raced on Lough Lein, one of the famous Lakes of Killarney. The Annual regatta in now in its 227th year. There are five remaining active clubs in the town and hinterland of Killarney, each operating from various boathouses along the shores of Lough Lein.
This years Killarney Sumemrfest will take place between 26th July and the 4th August 2013
Killarney Summerfest 2013 is bustling with a myriad of activities for all the family. The Festival programme offers a fantastic range of outdoor activities set amongst the breathtaking Lakes, Hills, Valleys and Mountains of Killarney. An abundance of childrens activities throughout the day await with dozens of Arts and Creativity Work shops and fun summercamps. In the Evening families will throng the Town Centre as the streets of Killarney come to life like never before as some of the worlds leading street musicians, performers, puppeteers, comedians and magicians entertain all the family.
The Irish Poker Festival is taking place in the INEC from 29th November – 2nd December.

August Bank Holiday Weekend enterntainment in the INEC Killarney

The 15 miles (24.14 km) race will start in Molls gap and continue along the spectacular ring of Kerry road the N71. The dramatic route takes you back towards Killarney Town passing the rugged landscape of the national park and the Lakes of Killarney. The challenging course is varied in its gradients but extremely rewarding. The race will finish in the grounds of the world famous Muckross House.
Buses will transport participants from Muckross House overflow car park to the start line. Finalised car parking details will be emailed to all participants prior to the race. Online registration and further information are available at maximarathonkillarney.com.

It’s a racing festival, being held for just the second time following its success in its inaugural running last year, that is offering something for everyone this year.
The popular races are a perfect way for the people of Killarney and those visiting the town to give a proper send-off to an unforgettable summer of sport that saw Killarney also successfully host the 3 Irish Open.
With the widespread media coverage of the Irish Open displaying Killarney’s beauty for all to see, visitors from far and wide are expected to descend on the town for the August Races which take place on Ireland’s most scenic racecourse.
There is a chance for the ladies to get dressed up, particularly on Friday, August 20, when TV3’s Sinead Desmond will be the celebrity judge of the most Appropriately Dressed Competition.
Radio Kerry Events present “The Big Party” featuring two of the UK’s biggest acts, 2008 X Factor Winner Alexandra Burke and 2009 Britain’s Got Talent Winners DIVERSITY, on Wednesday August 25th in the Rose of Tralee Festival Dome. The event, which celebrates Radio Kerry’s 20th Birthday, coincides with Alexandra Burke’s 22nd birthday on that day. It will be the first performance in Kerry for both Alexandra Burke and Diversity.
Also on the ticket is Dublin group Heathers, an acoustic Indie Folk Duo formed in 2007 by twin sisters Ellie and Louise Mc Namara. The duo have achieved significant radio airplay in 2010 with the song Remember When, which is featured on a Failte Ireland advertising campaign.
The Big Party is the first event of its kind organised by Radio Kerry. General Manager Fiona Stack said that the station is very excited with the opportunity to host two major international acts in Tralee and hopes that Kerry will extend its legendary welcome to them both!

The news that Killarney has been chosen to host the Irish Open golf tournament next year, has been hailed as a major boost for tourism in Kerry. Killarney’s Killeen course was chosen above rival applicants from Mount Juliet, Fota Island and Baltray, to host the event, which will be held over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Killarney last hosted the Open in 1992, when it was won by British golfer Nick Faldo. Mayor of Killarney, Michael Gleeson, said the news couldn’t come at a better time for the town’s business people.
